Crisis Nursery champions child safety and family wellness

On May 4, 2013, hundreds of Crisis Nursery supporters participated in the 2013 5K Healthy Living Fun Run & 1 Mile Wellness Walk (aka FUN RUN), hosted at Chaminade College Preparatory School.  More than 25 pairs of shoes were donated to families supported by our Family Empowerment Program.

FUN RUN was sponsored by Chaminade College Preparatory School, HD Supply, Walgreens, Karen Barclay Hughs, and Coca-Cola.  The event was co-chaired by Crisis Nursery Board President Karen Evans and family, including son Jack, a student at Chaminade, and Janet and Larry Conners.

Expanding Our Reach: Wentzville Outreach Center Hosts Open House

Families in the Wentzville area now have greater access to Crisis Nursery services.  On Nov. 29, we hosted an open house at the all-new Wentzville Outreach Center to showcase all that we do in the community to help build strong families. 

Joining in celebration were: Rev. Tim Ritzel, City of Wentzville Chaplain; LINC Executive Director Kathy Thompson; CCRB Executive DirectorBruce Sowatsky; Wentzville Community Club Board President Diane Ransom; former Wentzville Mayor Paul Lambi; Paul Kruse of First Step Home; Carla Klaskin of Mercy Hospital; Mary Tinsley, representing Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer; Alderman Chris Gard (Ward 2); LCRB Executive Director Becky Hoskin; and Assistant Chief of Police Major Paul West.

"Over the Top for Tots” Raised $87,000!

On Nov. 2, Crisis Nursery St. Charles and Wentzville proudly hosted the 7th Annual “Over the Top for Tots” ladies’ luncheon! This year's event, hosted by KMOV's Claire Kellett, benefitted our “Healing Hearts Program,” which provides art and play therapy for children who need help mending their broken spirits.

Nursery supporters were full of holiday cheer at our most recent Plaza Frontenac shopping and dining extravaganza on Tuesday, December 4.  While many shoppers did what they do best at select retailers, including Michael Kors and Banana Republic, others wined and dined at BRIO Tuscan Grille. Participating stores in the mall offered a percentage discount off purchases and BRIO donated 10% of all food bought to the nursery.

A silent auction and raffle excited attendees to place bids and try their luck. Authentic items autographed by Cardinal Matt Holliday, pop singer Katy Perry, and country music star Taylor Swift were included in the silent auction.  Fantastic raffle items were up for grabs and winners took home prizes such as a two night stay at the Ameristar Casino, a design consultation from Pottery Barn, and jewelry from Talbots and J. Crew. 

EAT. SHOP. LOVE. guests included Larry and Janet Conners, Charlotte McClure, Jodi Lang, Beth Freeman, Jane Kapp, Sami Douglass, Fran Pieper, our board president Karen Evans and others. KLOU’s Sherry Farmer and Miss Gateway St. Louis, Jennifer Davis, provided celebrity guest appearances at BRIO.

Napoli Night for the Crisis Nursery nets $24,045

Once again, Napoli Night for the Crisis Nursery was a monumental success!  More than 300 guests partied for a purpose, and donated to our mission: saving babies’ lives, keeping kids safe and building strong families.  We raised $24,045!  Thank you for your support of the Crisis Nursery and the families we serve.
