Thank you for Partnering with Us!

In 1986, the Coalition of 100 Black Women and the Junior League of St. Louis partnered to open the first Crisis Nursery in the State of Missouri at Deaconess Hospital. Now, 38 years later, the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery is widely recognized as the leading Crisis Nursery in the nation, with outcomes that consistently demonstrate success in keeping kids safe and helping families thrive. From the very beginning, the Crisis Nursery has relied heavily on collaboration with funders and community partners, and still today, we know we couldn’t provide vital child abuse and neglect prevention services without our incredible partners and supporters - it truly takes a village!

As we observe Child Abuse Prevention Month, we are feeling especially grateful to our major funders and partners who make our work possible. Four of our Nursery locations are located on hospital grounds throughout the Greater St. Louis area. Because of the spaces generously provided by BJC Healthcare and SSM Health, we have the capacity to provide a safe haven for over 30 children from the Greater St. Louis and St. Charles County area every day and night. Our St. Charles and West Nurseries are located across the street from SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital; Crisis Nursery Wentzville is located on the grounds of SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital - Wentzville; and our North Nursery is on the grounds of BJC’s Christian Hospital. In addition to providing space, these hospitals provide our Nurseries with maintenance services, and supply warm meals for the children in our care, ensuring we can offer a warm, nurturing, home-like environment for every child who visits the Crisis Nursery.

In addition, Mercy, BJC Healthcare, and SSM Health also provide space within several of their hospitals for our Family Empowerment Outreach Centers, allowing us to offer family stabilization services, like crisis intervention, case management, counseling, parenting support, and basic needs supplies throughout the Greater St. Louis, St. Charles, Lincoln, and Jefferson County area. The scope of our services would be incredibly limited without the generosity of our hospital partners. We are so thankful for the availability and accessibility we can offer to families in crisis because of their help!

We cannot end without expressing immense gratitude for our major funding partners! Without the incredible support of the St. Louis Mental Health Board, the Lincoln County Resource Board, the St. Louis County Children’s Service Fund, the Community and Children’s Resource Board of St. Charles County and several others, the Crisis Nursery’s lifesaving child abuse prevention work would not be possible. Their commitment to our mission is a huge reason we are able to care for nearly 4,000 children each year. 99% of those children remain free of abuse and neglect and return home to their families and 96% of parents meet safety and stability goals set at intake by the time their children leave our care!

Over the past 38 years, our community partners, funders, and supporters have made it possible for the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery to keep over 136,000 children safe from abuse and neglect. We are SO very thankful for each and every person, business, organization, and foundation that has supported us along the way. It is because of them that we are able to save babies’ lives, keep children safe, and build strong families. Thank you for partnering with us as we seek to end child abuse and neglect and give children the opportunity to live and grow in safety!!
